Short Poems

1. “Fish Out of Water”

A fish jumped out of the pond
To see what lay beyond
But soon it flopped and flailed
And wished it had stayed in the pond

2. “Soggy Socks”

In puddles I walked
My socks soaked through and through
Now my toes are as wrinkled
As a raisin left in the dew

3. “Confused Cat”

My cat sat on the mat
Looking puzzled and flat
Meowing for a clue
Till I realized he forgot how to cat

4. “Left-handed Struggles”

I’m left-handed you see
But you wouldn’t believe
The scissors won’t cut
And smudging’s a but
But I’m determined to be a lefty.

Medium Poems

The Unlucky Day

It’s the thirteenth of the month,
A day that’s known for being bad,
Some folks think it’s just a myth,
But I know it makes people sad.

They avoid black cats and ladders,
And won’t walk under a sign,
Superstitions make them shudder,
On this day that’s so unkind.

But me, I don’t give a darn,
I laugh at silly beliefs,
I’ll walk under all the ladders,
And hug all the black furry thieves.

For luck is just a state of mind,
You create your own good fate,
No need to fear this day unkind,
It’s just another date.

The Ode to Pizza

Oh, savory slice of heaven,
How I adore your cheesy bliss,
With all my heart and soul,
I could never give you a miss.

Your crispy crust with toppings galore,
Melting mozzarella and flavorful sauce,
I savor every bite and crave for more,
Until I’m left with an empty plate, of course.

You come in so many varieties,
From meat lovers to veggie delights,
I’ve never met a pizza not to my liking,
That’s how much joy it ignites.

So here’s to you, dear pizza,
The hero of every party,
You’re always there to please us,
And make our taste buds hearty.

A Collection of Dumb Poems

I wrote a poem about a cat,
But it turned out really whack.
It didn’t rhyme or make much sense,
But I tried my best at the expense
Of my poetry skills and creativity.

Then I attempted a poem about a tree,
But it ended up just as silly as can be.
I talked about its branches reaching high,
But then I added a line about a guy
Who thought the tree could talk and offer advice.

So I scrapped that idea and tried again,
This time about a pig and a hen.
But my words just didn’t flow,
And it ended up a jumbled show
Of nonsense and lack of inspiration.

I guess I’m not cut out for poems,
My writing skills seem to be in a slump.
But this collection of dumb rhymes,
Is all I have for these trying times,
So I hope you’ll appreciate the effort put in.

The Mundane Musings of a Mediocre Mind

I woke up this morning with a sigh,
Another day ahead, oh me oh my.
The sun was shining, the birds did sing,
But all I could think was, ugh, everything.

I stumbled out of bed and made my way,
To the kitchen for coffee, I’m not one to delay.
The beans were freshly ground, the aroma divine,
But my taste buds were dead, as though they did resign.

I sat at the table, staring blankly ahead,
My mind was empty, not even a shred,
Of creativity or inspiration or wit,
I was just a lump, a forgettable git.

I tried to think of something clever to say,
But the words wouldn’t come, they just flew away.
My brain was mush, my thoughts a fog,
I was about as sharp as a wet old log.

I made my way to work, a dreary commute,
The radio was on, but I didn’t give a hoot.
The traffic was heavy, the pace was slow,
My soul was dying, my spirits low.

I arrived at the office, greeted with a smile,
But I knew deep down, I would just feel vile.
The day stretched ahead, endless and dull,
I prayed for an escape, anything at all.

But alas, the clock just ticked away,
And I spent hours doing nothing, come what may.
I was a drone, a cog in the machine,
A mindless worker, as uninspired as I’d ever been.

And so the day dragged on, until finally it was done,
And I left that place, feeling like I hadn’t won.
I went home and ate, watched TV, went to bed,
And I knew in my heart, I was just as clueless as when I’d begun.

So here I am, late at night, writing this poem,
Hoping to find some meaning, some spark to light the dome.
But I fear I’ll never find it, that I’ll be forever stuck,
In this mundane existence, with just dumb poems for luck.
