Short Poems

1. “The Jungle”
Lost in the dense foliage,
Heart racing, senses alive;
Breath held, waiting for danger,
A soldier thrives.

2. “The Last Goodbye”
Tears fall on muddy terrain,
As friends fall, one by one;
Faces etched with grief and pain,
Their duty is done.

3. “War Wounds”
Scars we bear, seen and unseen,
Memories of battles won and lost;
We’ll carry them with us always,
No matter the cost.

4. “Homecoming”
The journey’s end is in sight,
Families waiting with open arms;
The war is over, we made it through,
And we’re safe from harm.

Medium Poems

1. “The Lost”

In the fields, graves lie
Fallen soldiers, lost and cold
Their faces, now unknown.

2. “The Survivor”

I came home, but not whole
Scars deep in my heart
The Vietnam war, forever marked.

3. “The Memorial”

A wall, a solemn tribute
To those who gave their all
Their sacrifice, forever remembered.

Long Poems

The Unforgotten War

The distant sound of artillery fire,
Echoes across the land,
A land that once was beautiful,
Once was filled with life so grand.

But now it’s torn apart by war,
A country in complete despair,
And brave young men are fighting,
As they breathe the toxic air.

Their uniforms are stained with blood,
Their faces marked with pain,
They serve their country valiantly,
Amidst the thunder and the rain.

Their struggles and their hardships,
May never be fully known,
But still they forge ahead,
Enduring far from home.

The skies above are always dull,
Never a ray of sun or light,
Just endless grayness as it rains,
Day and night and night and day and night.

They hear from The States,
Of protests and the cries,
Of their fellow citizens,
Who label them as those who lie.

They know they are in harm’s way,
And anything could befall,
But they know they are together,
As their memories begin to stall.

They know they’ll never be the same,
After witnessing such grief,
But if they can make it through this,
They can tackle any thief.

So when they leave the rice fields,
And the struggles overcome,
They’ll be greeted by a land,
Where they’ll truly feel at home.

But until that fateful day,
They’ll keep on marching on,
And pray to all the gods above,
That they will keep them strong.

For they are the brave young soldiers,
Fighting in the unforgotten war,
And even though they face much strife,
Their courage will not be ignored.
