Abuse and Recovery

"The Addict"

Desperate for relief
Chasing it, oh so brief
Pleasure turns to pain
A cycle hard to maintain

02

Abuse and Recovery

"The Craving"

A hunger deep within
Takes over, a constant din
Thoughts consumed, body weak
The drug is all I seek

03

Abuse and Recovery

"The Spiral"

I watch myself slip away
As addiction has its way
Life crumbles, walls close in
I'm drowning, can't find my kin

04

Abuse and Recovery

"The Hope"

Through darkness there is light
A path to choose what's right
A new day, a second chance
I choose freedom, I advance.

"Lost in the Depths"

Lost in the depths of a darkened world,
A drug addict is lost and twirled,
Searching for escape in every pill,
But only finding a life that's still.

The highs of bliss are short and brief,
And soon are replaced with crushing grief,
A life that's ravaged by drugs and pain,
A never-ending cycle with nothing to gain.

Oh, addict, hear my plea,
There's so much life you've yet to see,
Reach out for the help that's near,
And cast aside that demon of fear.

"The Addiction Cycle"

The addiction cycle, an endless chain,
That drags its victims down in shame,
A trap that's so hard to break,
And a demon that's always there to take.

The highs are great and the lows are low,
And before they know it, the addicts go,
Deeper and deeper into the abyss,
Without a caring hand or a loving kiss.

The addiction cycle is a path we dread,
A dark and lonely road we're all afraid to tread,
But it's up to us to break the chain,
And help these souls find light again.

"The Road to Recovery"

The road to recovery is long and steep,
And it's a journey that's not for the weak,
But it's a journey that must be made,
If we're to help the lost find their way.

It's not just a matter of detox and cure,
But a process that's slow and sure,
Rebuilding trust and finding hope,
Learning to cope and finding ways to cope.

The road to recovery is paved with love,
Patience, understanding, and lots of shove,
But with determination and a fighting heart,
Every drug addict can make a new start.

The Addiction's Tight Grip

The drug has a hold on me,
A grip that won't let go,
I am a prisoner to its power,
Trapped in its deadly flow.

I was once a person with goals,
Dreams of a happy life,
But my addiction has consumed me,
Stabbing me with a painful knife.

Every day is a struggle,
To fight the urge within,
But the drug whispers in my ear,
A promise of temporary win.

My family has pleaded with me,
To leave this life of pain,
But the drug has a hold on me,
A grip that remains unchanged.

I've lost everything I've cherished,
My job, my home, my health,
But the drug keeps taunting me,
With its deceptive stealth.

I know that I am killing myself,
Slowly, day by day,
But I keep letting the drug control me,
My life slipping away.

The highs are shorter now,
The lows are more severe,
But I keep coming back for more,
Living in perpetual fear.

My addiction has left me empty,
A shell of the person I once was,
But I can't seem to break free,
From this life of endless buzz.

I pray for the strength to leave it all behind,
To break free from drugs' tight grip,
But until then, I'll keep living in pain,
Addiction's prisoner, unable to slip.
